Umbanda is a Brazilian religion that combines elements of Catholicism, spiritualism, Candomblé and other African traditions, creating a unique practice rich in rituals, symbols and beliefs. For those unfamiliar with it, it may be difficult to understand the depth of this religion, but, upon exploring its foundations a little more, we see that it is a practice of great spiritual importance and of helping others.

What is Umbanda?

Umbanda is a religion of a syncretic nature, that is, it combines practices from different beliefs to create its own religion. Its foundation dates back to the beginning of the 20th century, in Brazil, through the medium Zélio Fernandino de Moraes, who, in 1908, received guidance from a spirit to establish the religion. Umbanda preaches reverence for the orixás (African deities), the cult of spirits of light (such as caboclos, pretos-velhos, exus and others), and the search for spiritual and material evolution through charity.

Among its characteristics, the cult of the spiritual strength of guides and mentors who assist practitioners in the process of healing, protection, and personal development stands out. Through mediums, Umbanda connects the material and spiritual planes, allowing communication between the two worlds, always focusing on learning, evolution and helping others.

Whats is the objective of Umbanda?

Umbanda's main objective is to promote charity and the spiritual evolution of its practitioners and consultants. It is a religion focused on helping others, providing spiritual relief, guidance and healing. Through rituals and mediumistic practices, we seek to balance energies, strengthen faith and connect people with spirituality.

The spirits and guides that manifest themselves in Umbanda not only bring messages of comfort and teaching, but also help to solve everyday problems, alleviate suffering and direct those who need light and clarification.

Another important aspect of Umbanda is its message of respect and inclusion. Religion teaches that everyone is equal before the divine, regardless of origin, belief or social class, promoting a welcoming and united environment.

Through songs, dances, offerings and spiritual services, Umbanda raises awareness that love, charity and harmony are fundamental pillars for a full life. Thus, she invites everyone to follow a path of self-knowledge, growth and connection with the spiritual universe.
